When you learn more about the spectrum of autism, you will discover disabled people who can be productive in various fields such as myself. Despite me having a developmental disability, it does not hinder my creative processes. I manage to overcome the numerous obstacles before me and I aspire to become an inspiration to those diagnosed with my developmental disability.
Autism is the fastest growing developmental disability in the US. It generally appears before the age of 3. It affects 1 in 88 children. Currently there is no cure for autism, though with early intervention and treatment, the diverse symptoms related to autism can be greatly improved and in some cases completely overcome.
Some doctors believe the increased incidence in autism is due to newer definitions of autism. The term "autism" now includes a wider spectrum of children. For example, a child who is diagnosed with high-functioning autism today may have been thought to simply be odd or strange 30 years ago. Autism has many parts that fit into the general puzzle. The term “spectrum” is used to describe the different levels and symptoms experienced in someone’s disorder. These disorders are characterized, in varying degrees, by difficulties in social interaction, verbal and nonverbal communication and repetitive behaviors. Two people both with Autism may react differently to separate stimuli.
The video covers all of the important points involved when trying to inform someone about Autism. Altogether, it’s wrapped up in an animated format that can appeal to young to old. Specific charities are addressed to provide monetary aid.
